What QuietMeta does

QuietMeta reads the metadata and signed provenance records contained in a file you provide, and can remove categories of that metadata at your request. It operates on the container of the file; image data is not decoded or recompressed.

What QuietMeta does not do, and will not claim to do

  • It does not prove that a file was created by a human. The absence of a detectable marker proves nothing about origin.
  • It does not detect or remove watermarks embedded in pixels or in wording. Neither Anthropic's text watermark nor Google's SynthID can currently be verified by any third party, so no honest tool can claim to erase them.
  • It does not guarantee the outcome of any third-party AI detector.
  • It does not remove visible copyright marks, artist signatures or anti-counterfeiting features.
  • It never fabricates or forges a provenance record.

Your responsibilities

You may use QuietMeta only on content you own or are authorised to process. You are responsible for the consequences of removing metadata from a file.

Some metadata carries authorship and copyright information. A signed Content Credential in particular can hold the author's name, credit line and licence terms in the same cryptographically sealed block as everything else — which means it cannot be removed piece by piece. Removing it on someone else's work may infringe their rights. Removal is therefore never enabled by default, and the interface warns you specifically when the manifest carries such information.

Prohibited uses

  • Passing off content as something it is not, in any context where the truth of its origin matters.
  • Evading a legal transparency obligation, an academic rule, a platform policy or an investigation.
  • Stripping authorship or rights information from work you do not own.
  • Producing misleading synthetic media.

Availability of the free web version

The web version is provided free of charge, without any availability commitment. It may be interrupted, changed or withdrawn at any time. Statutory warranties applicable to consumers under French law remain unaffected.

Terms of sale — QuietMeta for desktop

What is sold

A perpetual, non-exclusive licence to use QuietMeta for desktop on one computer, for the major version purchased and every earlier one. A later major version is a paid upgrade and never stops the purchased version from working. The full licence terms are displayed during installation and are available on request at contact@quietmeta.app.

One licence covers one computer. A second computer needs a second licence. The key can be activated up to three times, and those extra activations exist for one reason only: so that reinstalling Windows or the application on that same computer does not cost you your licence. They are not a right to install on three machines, and we say so here rather than let the number imply otherwise.

Price and tax

19.00 EUR excluding tax. Value added tax is added at the rate of the purchaser's country and shown before payment; the total payable is displayed on the payment page before any commitment. Business purchasers established in the European Union outside France may enter a valid VAT number, in which case the reverse charge mechanism applies and no VAT is charged.

Order and payment

Payment is handled by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. We never see and never store your card details. The order is complete when payment is confirmed.

Delivery

Delivery is immediate and electronic: a licence key is sent to the email address given at payment, normally within a few minutes. If it has not arrived within one hour, check your spam folder and then write to contact@quietmeta.app — we will resend it. No physical medium is shipped.

Right of withdrawal

A consumer normally has fourteen days to withdraw from a distance contract, without giving a reason (article L221-18 of the French Consumer Code).

This right is lost for immediate delivery, and only if you say so. Because the licence key is supplied at once rather than after fourteen days, the law (article L221-28, 13° of the French Consumer Code) requires two things before that right can lapse: your prior express consent to immediate performance, and your acknowledgement that you thereby lose the right to withdraw. You are asked to confirm both, with a tick box, on the payment page — and not before then. If you do not tick it, we do not deliver immediately and you keep the fourteen days.

To withdraw where the right still applies, write to contact@quietmeta.app with your order reference. We refund within fourteen days of being informed, using the same payment method.

Legal guarantee of conformity

Digital content sold to a consumer carries the legal guarantee of conformity of articles L224-25-12 and following of the French Consumer Code, and the guarantee against hidden defects of articles 1641 and following of the Civil Code. These guarantees are free of charge, cannot be excluded by this contract, and are separate from any commercial gesture. If the software does not conform, you may require it to be brought into conformity and, failing that, obtain a price reduction or a refund.

Consumer mediation

If a complaint made to us in writing has not been resolved, a consumer may refer the dispute free of charge to our consumer mediator, within one year of that written complaint:

Intellectual property

The QuietMeta name, interface and source code belong to GLOBAL HUMAN INTELLIGENCE CONSULTING. Provenance validation uses the C2PA open-source library published by the Content Authenticity Initiative under its own licence.

Governing law

French law. In the absence of an amicable settlement, the competent courts are those of Paris, subject to the mandatory rules protecting consumers.

Status of this document

These terms were written in-house and have not been reviewed by a qualified lawyer. We prefer to say so rather than let the wording imply otherwise. Nothing here reduces the rights French and European consumer law gives you: where this document and the law disagree, the law wins.
